Amazon : Taming the Techno-Beast by Todd Wilson Kindle Book Review

I have to admit that being a geek dad is fun. I get to play with lots of cool toys that my kids would love to get their hands on. However, being a geek dad also has it’s traps. Sometimes I get too involved with the screen in front of my face and forget that there are little eyes watching me. Sometimes I have to not only reel in my own tendencies but also take a look at how much time my kids are spending with electronic gadgets and devices.Taming the Techno-Beast by Todd Wilson

In his book Taming the Techno-Beast, Helping You Understand and Navigate Your Child’s Electronic World , Todd Wilson approaches the subject of technology’s invasion into our homes directly without calling for an all out rebellion against anything with a microprocessor.

Although written in 2009, Taming the Techno-Beast is still relevant in today’s tech scene despite changes in social networks and gadgets. The illustrations and advice offered in this book are just as applicable to the reader today as they were were three years ago. It’s a quick read which I like. No beating around the bush. Todd gets straight to the point.

Reigning in our kids’ desire to sit in front of a screen all day while tapping away is tough but with the simple steps Todd Wilson outlines in this short book you can be well on your way to taming the techno-beast in your home. You may even find that you have a little beast hiding somewhere that you need to get under control.

Taming the Techno-Beast by Todd Wilson is available on the Kindle for $2.99. Since I reviewed this book Todd has also written the, Taming the Techno-Beast, Student Workbook that complements the book. The workbook covers texting, gaming, surfing the web, Facebook, and many other online activities and helps students and parents navigate through making heathly decisions about their online lifestyle.

Amazon : Learn How to Get Reviews for Your Amazon Kindle eBook

Getting reviews for your Amazon Kindle eBook is critical to your success. In this blog post and accompanying video, I’ll share how you can get reviews without breaking the Amazon Terms of Services.

As most, if not all, memberships and/or services have their own sets of rules which they require members or subscribers to follow, so does Amazon have Terms of Service which they expect their members to abide by at all times. They grant no exceptions and never hesitate to dish out various undesirable consequences to anyone who breaks the rules.

When it comes to the Amazon Terms of Service, broken rules can often result in suspended or cancelled memberships as well as lowered rankings which then lead to decreased sales and less or no money earned.

Get Ethical Reviews for Your Amazon Kindle eBook

That is why I, Brian G. Johnson, have decided to teach you what you need to know about Amazon’s terms of service in order to safeguard you from being penalized by the world’s largest online retailer — Amazon.com. Why? Because I would hate to see you spend valuable time, earnest effort and hard earned cash on creating that wonderful book and then get in trouble with big daddy Amazon. And as you might guess, getting in trouble with Amazon will prevent you from reaching your goal of becoming a successful eBook creator and publisher.

Of course, Amazon Terms of Service have numerous rules but one of the most important and most critical among them is that which refers to book (or other product) reviews. Thus, that is the term or rule I will concentrate on right here and now.

So, never ever forget that it is against the Amazon Terms of Service to acquire….

“Reviews written for any form of compensation other than a free copy of the product. This includes reviews that are a part of a paid publicity package.”

This was straight out of the horse’s, Amazon’s mouth, and it is fairly straightforward. However, please allow me to phrase it in my own words so that it becomes crystal clear:

It is against Amazon’s Terms of Service to compensate anybody in any shape or form for a review of any product within their store, book or otherwise!

This means that if you are a self publisher who is creating your own books and uploading them to the Amazon website, you are not allowed to pay anyone for leaving a review of your product — not with cash money, not with gifts, not with bribes, not with barter, not with promises of returned favors, etc., etc., etc.

Having an account with Amazon is imperative to your success as a creator and publisher of Kindle books. So please do not risk jeopardizing it by breaking their rules. It’s not worth it and it will only take you further from your goal of earning the royalties you desire and deserve.

Yes, I know! Getting reviews for your published books is essential to their success but there are ways of getting them and still remaining in good standing with Amazon. Do it the smart way, the creative way, the way that will not go against the Amazon Terms of Service.

So, how can you get the book reviews you want and need?

Well, here is how I do it for each of my self published Kindle books and it works beautifully because every single one of them gets reviewed, some more often than others, but they all get reviewed. And many of my books, by the way, are currently Amazon #1 sellers:

I create a buzz!

What I mean by creating a buzz is that once my book is published and available in the Amazon Kindle Store, I tell everyone I know about it — I tell members of my family, I tell my friends, and I also tell my neighbors and acquaintances. That can amount to raising awareness of the existence of my published eBook among dozens if not hundreds of people. And yes, a handful of them may decide to purchase it and then even write a review. That is free book promotion that can prove to be quite effective.

I also create videos which I publish to YouTube and in which I introduce myself and my books. This gives me exposure on a platform where hordes of individuals continually swarm. Again, free publicity with potential sales and book reviews.

Most importantly, I join the KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) program which allows me to schedule five free promotional days every 90-day cycle. This means that my book becomes available for free during certain predetermined days. Because everyone loves stuff that is free, my promotional free books get potentially downloaded by hundreds and even thousands of people, and at least a few of them will go back to write a review.

Lastly, I create a post on my Facebook page in which I announce the availability of my newly published book which, depending on the circumstances of the moment, can be downloaded at a reduced price or for free. On the same post I also ask people to provide honest feedback. Here I use the work “feedback” rather than “review” because I don’t want Amazon to misconstrue it as breaking their rules of never acquiring reviews through any form of compensation. Doing that usually results in a least a few reviews.

Understanding how important it is to get your books reviewed, please keep in mind that you don’t necessarily need a whole lot. If other books within your niche have an average of 10 reviews, there is really no need for you to distress until you get 60 because the 10 or 12 you will get over time would be quite enough.

Speaking about reviews, I have to add one more bit of critical information which you may or may not be aware of. When it comes to reviews, quality is more important than quantity. It will do you absolutely no good to get 100 reviews if many of them are bad ones. As a matter of fact, getting bad reviews will most definitely harm you and will derail the success of your book. The only recipe for getting good rather than bad reviews is creating high quality books that your readers will love.

Now that I’ve told you how I do it, there is absolutely no reason why you couldn’t or shouldn’t follow my lead. Doing that will prevent you from breaching the Amazon Terms of Service while you will still be getting the positive reviews that will help you succeed as a Kindle eBook self publisher.

Reviews are an important ingredient when it comes to launching a best selling Kindle book, learn how to write and publish a best seller by leveraging my Kindle 6 Step system.

Amazon : The Kindle Book Review | L.T. Patridge

The proliferation of self-published ebooks hides a secret – many of them are in fact quite good. I am always looking for another Hugh Howey’s Wool to provide me with a joyful surprise among the stacks of cheap Kindle novels available at Amazon. The quality, of course, is a crapshoot, which is why it’s important that we get out there and learn about what’s good, and tell others in turn. I have signed up with the Kindle Book Review to read and review new ebooks.
